The Lands Registry: digitisation of its business processes

Please note that the Ministry of Lands has migrated certain services in relation to land transactions to the e-citizen online platform, effective 3rd April, 2018.
By way of a public notice on 18th April 2018, the Principal Secretary reiterated that the digitisation process is strictly in respect of administrative tasks with a view to expedite the processing of transactions on land. Some of the tasks migrated to the Lands Information Management System (LIMS) online platform include:
1. initiation of applications for registration (of Transfer/Charge/Discharge/Any other conveyancing instrument
as applicable);
2. issuance of consents to lease/charge land whose tenure is leasehold and where the National Government is
the head lessor;
3. valuation requests upon upon initiation of application for registration;
4. payment of stamp duty and consent;
5. payment of land rent and issuance of land rent clearance certificate;
6. payment of registration fees (and generally all payments);
7. application for official searches (for properties located in Nairobi).

Kindly note that the drawing, execution and attestation of conveyancing and security instruments will continue to be done by qualified persons as required by the laws of Kenya.
